This may be the most ironic deer-in-a-building incident ever.
We see a lot of deer-in-a-building stories here at Wide Open Spaces. But this one is especially funny. That's because the building a young doe crashed into was a taxidermy shop!
Keith Bowman, the owner of Bowman's Wildlife Taxidermy in Walnut Cove, North Carolina was quite surprised by the 3 a.m. phone call he got from a sheriff's deputy.
"The [deputy] said, 'There is a deer in here,'" Bowman told Fox 8 News. "I said, 'There's a lot of deer in here,' and she said, 'No, I mean a live one.'"
You can't make a story this zany up. Hear the owners talk more about this funny incident in the video below.
A sheriff's deputy watched the whole incident unfold. The deer was simply trying to dodge traffic when she crashed through the front door of the building.
It's just an unbelievable coincidence that building also turned out to be a taxidermy shop.
The doe did about $2,500-$3,000 worth of damages in the process, but the deputy was able to shoo it out of the building relatively unscathed.
Bowman has been in business over 20 years but has only been at this location since March according to posts on his businesses' Facebook page.
And as if the awards he's racked up over the years aren't enough, we're willing to bet Bowman will have no problems using this crazy little story to his business advantage once the deer seasons roll around this fall!
