When a rider and her horse stumble onto a moose on a trail, their ride takes a very interesting turn.
You never know what you're going to encounter during a trail ride, and that's part of what keeps things interesting. You may stumble on a dog walker, deer, ATV, or any other number of things while out on the trail. But most riders don't anticipate coming across a moose, and they certainly don't think that they'll end up as close to a moose as the horse and rider in this video do.
This horse and rider came across a moose blocking the trail, and the moose certainly didn't seem intent on moving anytime soon. The horse was on high alert - you can see his ears focusing on the moose - and when the moose did start to move? Well, you have to see for yourself.
This horse and rider did just what they should - get out of there, and quickly. Moose can be very territorial, and this moose made a move to charge the horse and rider. If you find a moose on the trail, it's best to give it lots of space and not challenge it at all. You don't want to tangle with these animals!
When you're trail riding, you have to be prepared for just about anything. Knowing how to handle your horse when he's spooked can help improve your safety on the trail. It's also a good idea to always go trail riding with a buddy, so that help is available if something happens. Always bring your cell phone, but rather than storing it in your saddle bags, keep it on your body so that you still have it if you and your horse are separated.
Have a great time out on the trail!
