The Alfa Romeo Giulia is the best luxury sports sedan currently available in the United States.
What one luxury sedan reigns supreme? It isn't really that much of a contest once you get a feel for what Alfa Romero is doing.
It's pretty easy to argue that the Alfa Romero Giulia is much more beautiful than its main competitors. The Mercedes C-Class, the BMW 3-Series, and the Audi A4 have nothing on those curves.
It's faster, as well. The base model Alfa Romero Giulia takes 5.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to sixty. By comparison, it takes the Mercedes C300 6.5 seconds, the BMW 320i 6.7 seconds, and the base model A4 7.4 seconds to do the sprint. All four of these vehicles have top speeds of around 155 miles per hour.

The top-of-the-range Quadrifoglio trim is on par with its high-performance rivals as well. It takes 3.9 seconds to get to sixty, while the BMW M3 takes four seconds, and the Audi S4 takes 4.4 seconds. It is trumped only by the Mercedes C63 AMG, which takes just 3.8 seconds to do the sprint.
It is worth noting that the Quadrifoglio has one of the best sounding V6 engines ever, paralleled only by the Jaguar F-Type V6. Its 2.9 liters twin-turbo V6 produces 505 horsepower. Interestingly, it is fundamentally the same engine as the Ferrari California T, albeit with two fewer cylinders.
It is competitively priced as well. Prices start at $37,995. This makes it cheaper than the Mercedes C-Class, which starts at $39,500, but more expensive than the Audi A4 and BMW 320i, the former starting at $34,900, and the latter starting at $33,450.
Of course, the Giulia isn't exactly perfect. Italian cars are not known for their reliability, and the Giulia is no exception. Early examples have been plagued with electrical problems. Furthermore, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the base model is known for electrical problems that affect the throttle body and exhaust system. It is no surprise that a car developed in only two and a half years has these issues.
The Giulia is by no means perfect. That being said, it is a fresh breath of air into the boring world of black and grey BMWs, Mercedes-Benzes, and Audis.
