The land of the current-day Willow Creek State Park is home to the Wahpekute and O?héthi ?akówi? native tribes. Now managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, this park is excellent for a day trip to discover the wonder of nature. Take the nature trail to remnants from prairie days, bring a kayak, and use the boat launch on Little Falls Lake. There are even picnic areas and picnic tables to enjoy a meal as a group. If you want to explore the vast acreage of the park, plan to stay overnight at one of the 300 campgrounds.

Winter Activities

If you are visiting in the winter months, you can enjoy snowshoeing, dog sledding, and cross-country skiing. Willow River presents 2 miles of hard-packed trails on the north side of the river where pets are allowed, as well as 9 miles of cross-country ski trails on the south side of the river that are groomed and tracked by the park's volunteers.
