We all love our animals so much! Can you imagine if your cat went missing for 11 years? A woman at the Dutchess County SPCA in New York spent three years trying to get close enough to pet the stray cat that had been visiting her home and she was able to scan the cat for a microchip!
After they scanned the cat they discovered that this sweet munchkin had been missing for 11 years!
"With information from the chip, we were able to locate the owner, and discovered the cat had been missing for 11 years! Yesterday Tiger had a reunion with his mom Maggie, after getting checked out by DCSPCA clinic director Dr. Crum. He was in remarkably good shape for having been on the streets that long, and today he is back with his family whom he had not seen since he was 3 years old!"
The reunion between Tiger and his owner made our heart bursts so we had to share the story and the DCSPCA Facebook post! Thanks to Carol O-Connell this pair was brought back together.
ABC7 News interviewed O'Connell, and we learned that that stray cat started to look a little rough around the edges.
"Each year he came to my house, he deteriorated more and more each year, and that's when I realized either somebody just abandoned him or he just was missing or lost or he was just a feral cat," O'Connell said. "This spring he started to come around a little bit more in the mornings so I started to work harder to try to gain his trust."
Thank goodness she worked hard to gain this cat's trust!
The owner is convinced her cat Tiger has many tales to tell. Thank goodness when they moved it was only ten houses down the street.
Every animal must have a microchip!
He hadn't seen his family since he was three-years-old. There are endless stories about these reunions and we love them all!
Losing a pet is any pet owner's worst nightmare. And if your pet slips out of their collar or doesn't have identification on them, your chances of being reunited with that pet are dramatically reduced. Microchips can help to reconnect you with your lost pet.
